The principal objective of higher education institutions should not simply be to educate the individual but also to provide future generations with the skills and knowledge necessary to address global challenges such as poverty, conflict and climate change. Thus higher education should constantly renew its connections with society at large. It should engage proactively in dialogue with citizens to create a true knowledge-based society.
The future of the Euro-Mediterranean region lies in improved socio-economic development, solidarity, regional integration, sustainable development and knowledge. There is a need to increase co-operation in areas such as (…) education, vocational training, science and technology, culture (…).
· Becoming a member of a growing network of Euromed universities and higher education institutions.
· Contributing to the creation of this new area of Higher Education and Research.
· Becoming an active part of the sole voice representing the needs of Euro-Med universities and designing new Higher Education policies.
· Being involved in Mediterranean issues, one of the priorities for Europe’s political and cultural future.
· Fostering networking and sharing experiences with other Euro-Med institutions.
· Increasing cultural and technological exchange.
· Contributing to the transformation of Euro-Med Higher Education and its impact on society.
